Gansu Zhongchuan Peony Nursery, located in Lanzhou city, provincial capital of Gansu province and northerly adjacent the Zhongchuan airport, is the currently largest horticulture company in China which mainly makes the researches, production and sales of the planting varieties of Gansu purple speckle peony and Chinese Peony.     Gansu Zhongchuan Peony Nursery of the company covers the area of 160 hectares, being charged with the national construction project of “China Peony and Peony Gene Warehouse”, the nursery has 12 branch nurseries such as “wild variety resource nursery”, and “Gansu peony variety nursery”. The company takes the lead in adopting the factory breeding technique for planting of fine variety of the purple speckle peony. The annual capacity of the really growing seedlings of the purple speckle peony is 500,000 plants, the grafted seedlings 100,000 plants.     The products are not only sold well in northern cities domestically but also to be best sold abroad, such as U.S.A, Japan, Korea and other countries of West Europe. The company now stands advanced in the trade of the peony industry in the world. The company has the largest domestic planting base for the peony, taking the varieties of more than 300, the collated and identified varieties of them are 165. The annual capacity of the seedling is about 50,000 frustum and the fresh cut blossoms 150,000 branches.      The company has 60 technicians in existence and has 10 monographs and theses published in “horticulture and flower periodicals” published at home and abroad, among them, the monograph named as “China Peony and Chinese Peony” to be awarded the national second prize and the first prize for Gansu provincial Advance of Science and Technology. The company now can cultivate and provide 1～2 new and fine varieties of the peony to the public.
