| Located at South Gate of Zhongchuan Airport, Lanzhou, and adjacent to Lanzhou Zhongchuan Peony Tree and Peony Garden, the gene warehouse covers an area of 360 mu (1 mu is about 0.1647 acre), with 180 mu for Peony Tree gene warehouse and experimentation garden, 120 mu for peony gene warehouse and experimentation garden, 60 mu for producing fresh cut flowers. |

In first stage the total investment on this project is about one million US dollars, and it is a keystone project designated by National Forest Bureau and GansuProvincial Forest Department. The purpose of this project is to take advantage of rich wild resources and good varieties of Peonies in Northwest China and their adaptability, collect broadly, plant centralized, and protect rare varieties. Based in China but targets global market, and establish the largest Peony Tree and Peony Gene Warehouse in China . Besides the purpose of protecting varieties and conducting research, the gene warehouse will also provide high grade young plants to other countries. |

The seven gardens for peony trees in the gene warehouse are as follows, 1) wild idioplasm resource garden, 2)Gansu Peony variety garden, 3) Central China variety garden, 4)Foreign variety garden, 5)experiment and observation garden, 6), fringe picking garden, 7)fine variety cultivating garden.
The five peony gardens are: 1) wild idiaplasm resourse garden, 2)Chinese variety garden, 3)foreign variety garden, 4)fine variety cultivating garden, 5) new variety cultivating garden. The construction term for the project is 5 years. It is the third year of the project now, and infrastructure construction is still in process.
Project manager is Mr. Zhao qianlong, deputy secretary-general for China Peony Tree and Peony Association, and president for Lanzhou Peony Horticulture Development Co., Technical Manager is Mr. Li jiajue, vice chairman for China Peony Tree and Peony Association, deputy general engineer for Gansu Provincial Forest Department and specialist for peony. | ||||||||||||||
